The Library
The university’s Main Library contains most of the Arts, Engineering, Science and Social Sciences books and journals. It also contains a cluster of networked computers for general use. Branch libraries covering Law, Education, Medicine, Geography, Rural and Urban Planning and Veterinary Science are located in the same buildings as the Departments and Faculties that they serve.
Students are, therefore, assured of access to the books that they need. The Main Library has over a million items in stock and subscribes to a large number of periodicals. The library also provides access to a wide range of electronic sources of information.
The Computing Service
The University’s Computer Centre is response for the computing infrastructure in the university. There is a communications network that links local computers together and to the rest of the world via the internet. There are several computer rooms located in the Centre. The computers in the rooms provide access towards word-processing, electronic mail and world-wide web. In fact, the whole university is computer networked.
University of Zimbabwe students increasingly use electronic mail as a means of communication and all are eligible for an e-mail account.
Students with Disabilities
The university is committed to the promotion of equal opportunities and access and welcomes applications from students with disabilities. The staff of the Disability Resources Centre provides support and information for students with disabilities and is always ready to discuss any issues or concerns that the students might have.
