The University of Zimbabwe is the oldest, largest and best university in Zimbabwe. It has, since its establishment in 1955, produced knowledge workers with internationally sought after qualifications and reputation in all areas of academic and professional activities.
The University is in Harare, Zimbabwe’s capital city. It is situated about five kilometers north of the city centre and is set in the leafy and beautiful Mount Pleasant suburb. Transport to and from the Main Campus is readily available in the form of commuter omnibuses and taxis. The College of Health Sciences is situated at Parirenyatwa Hospital, about 3 kilometres from the Main Campus.
Our vision finds us in an academic and professional world without boundaries. We strive “to be (and be recognized by others as) a leading University working for prosperity, peace and dignity in Zimbabwe and beyond”. To that end, the University of Zimbabwe aims to participate as an active member of the global intellectual world by educating future citizens to think globally and by advancing international scholarship and research.
The University of Zimbabwe is a comprehensive institution offering more than 100 undergraduate and postgraduate degree, diploma and certificate programs. Its 12 000 plus students are well served by excellent and accessible professors, a challenging curriculum, opportunities for research, internships, campus leadership positions and other hands-on learning that prepare international students for professional and personal success in a global environment.
The University’s commitment to maintaining highly recognized international standards in research and teaching is also reflected in its development of cooperation programs with other dynamic higher education institutions that are similarly aware of the benefits that accrue from the internationalization of higher education. To date, the University has established numerous strategic academic alliances with institutions in Asia, America, Europe and, of course Africa.
Students looking for a university with academically and professionally meaningful student-teacher relationships, a wide variety of internationally recognized programs and a reputation that reaches far beyond territorial boundaries, should take a closer look at the University of Zimbabwe. At the University of Zimbabwe, students find a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment with a strong sense of community. We invite you to join us. Your participation enhances the diversity of our community and helps us learn from one another.
