The Faculty of Engineering came into existence in 1974, the inaugural departments having been Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. The BSc (Hons) Engineering degree programme was offered over four years, and eleven of the 1974 intake of students successfully completed their degrees in 1977 as the first engineering graduates of the Faculty.
