Professor Levi Nyagura assumed the position of Vice Chancellor of the University of Zimbabwe on 1 January 2003 after being the Pro Vice Chancellor for 7 years.

He has worked at the University in various capacities since 1979. He has held the following posts:

• - Director- Human Resources Research Centre
• - Deputy Dean of Education
• - Chairman of both the Curriculum Studies and Technical Education Departments

Prof. Nyagura is also a member of several professional bodies and does consultancy work for national and international organizations. He has authored a considerable number of publications and instructional materials.
