 M.Med Part I (1 year)

 

Applied Physiology

  1. 1.Applied Pharmacology
  2. 2.Basic Science Core Course (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology and Clinical Pharmacology)

   3. Course work Clinical Anaesthetic training:
neuro surgery

cardiothoracic surgery

paediatric surgery

major plastic surgery

intensive care medicine

4. Continuous assessment assignments and tests

5. Start work on Dissertation

Examinations

Written:

1.    Combined Basic Science Examination:                       (MAD 501)

         100 MCQ questions in 3 hours

  1. 2.Applied Physiology and Pharmacology:                      (MAD 502)
    1    00 MCQ questions in 3 hours

To pass, the candidate must obtain an overall score of at least 50%

M.Med Part II (2 years)

  1. 1.3 months Critical Care Medicine
  2. 2.3 months Medicine
    1. 3.3 months Outpost attachment
    2. 4.months Intensive Care Unit and Cardiothoracic including Open Hear

       Surgery.
5.   Continuing anaesthetic sub-specialities

6.   3 months Chronic Pain Management

  1. 6.6 months posting outside Zimbabwe
  2. 7.Continuous assessment assignments and tests
  3. 8.Complete Dissertation

Examinations

  1. 1.Written Paper I: 100 MCQ questions in 3 ho(MAD 503)
    1. 2.Written Paper II: 5 Essay questions in 3 hour(MAD 504)
    2. 3.Clinical examinatio                                   (MAD 580)
    3. 4.Oral Equipment and procedures(MAD 590)
    4. 5.Continuous Assessment - 3 essays
    5. 6.Dissertation

Entry Requirements: An appropriate good Honours degree in the Sciences or Social Sciences

 

Courses at Masters Level (Population Studies)

MPOS 501 Introduction to Demography: This course is covers population trends and patterns and components of growth, mortality and migration.

MPOS 502 Demographic Techniques I: The course covers demographic analysis and computer applications.

MPOS 503 Population and Development: The course aims to provide an advanced introduction to the linkages between population and development.

MPOS 504 Statistical Methods: This course covers Research Methods and Statistical applications in the field of Social Sciences.

MPOS506 Demographic Techniques II: This course covers advanced indirect techniques of demographic analysis with computer applications.

MPOS507 Fertility: This course is about the study of fertility as a component of reproductive health.

MPOS508 Mortality: The course is about the study of mortality, morbidity and health.

MPOS509 Migration: The course is about internal and international migration.

MPOS570 Dissertation: Research Project
