Masters in Economics (MEC) 2 yrs F/T, 3 yrs P/T

Entry Requirements: A good Honours degree (2.1 or better) in Economics or approved equivalent with emphasis on Econometrics.

 

First Year Core Courses in Economics

MEC513 Microeconomics: The course equips students with skills to carry out research, engage in policy debates and involve in sound training in new concepts.

MEC514 Macroeconomics: Macroeconomic theories analyses economic controversies, theoretical policies and issues in an African context aiming at dynamic open-economy dating back to 21st Century.

MEC515 Quantitative Methods: The course has 2 fundamental parts; aims to equip students with solid and up to date foundation in Mathematics for Economists and modern Econometrics

 

Optional Courses for Economics

MEC506 Labour Economics: The course contains the impacts of economic and social issues, unemployment, income and discrimination.

MEC520 Development Economics: The course aims and objectives are to understand the in-depth of current theoretical and empirical literature on growth and development.

MEC570 Dissertation: Research project
