Qualifications: Masters in Social Work 2012 (Smith College School of Social Work, Northampton, MA, USA), Bachelor of Social Science in Clinical Social Work (Honours) 2006 (University of Cape Town, Cape Town, South Africa)

Bio: Hazvinei Aquila Vera is a qualified clinical social worker with local and international experience in providing high quality care and support to a variety of client populations for over 15 years. She joined the University of Zimbabwe in 2023 under the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Department of Social Work. She is particularly focused on child and adolescent development and mental health. She has a consistent track record of working successfully with individuals, families and groups, all within a variety of settings. She is passionate about advancing the field of clinical social work and holistic mental health services in Zimbabwe and the African region through research and practice, especially Child and Adolescent Mental Health service provision and Trauma informed care and services. Her research interests are centered around evidence based trauma interventions and developing local knowledge base for preventing and treating mental health challenges and maintaining mental wellbeing in the African context.
