The Department is made up of five (5) sections: Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Microbiology and Immunology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology and Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology. Each of these sections is devoted to teaching of the respective subjects, mainly to Bachelor of Veterinary Science Part II students for three (3) semesters after which they sit for professional examinations. The Microbiology, Parasitology and Pathology sections also run diagnostic laboratories, which in addition to performing routine laboratory diagnosis for the University of Zimbabwe Veterinary Teaching Hospital and the general community also conduct teaching of Laboratory Diagnostics to Bachelor of Veterinary Science Part IV students for two (2) semesters.
