The University of Zimbabwe first offered the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 1986.  The programme was launched from within the Department of Business Studies.  The original intention was to offer a Full-time as well as a Part-time programme. The support for a full-time programme was minimal and that, combined with inadequate staffing and other resources, resulted in the programme being offered only on a part-time basis.

In 1994, the University of Zimbabwe established the Graduate School of Management (GSM) as a separate department within the Faculty of Commerce.  The GSM is currently located at Number 6 Langham, University of Zimbabwe.

In view of the rapid pace of change and globalization in business and management, we strive to produce managerial leaders and researchers who are able to meet the 21^st century business and management challenges.
