PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Human Resources Research Centre (HRRC), which is situated in the Faculty of Education at the University of Zimbabwe was established in 1987 as part of the University’s staff development project. The main business of the HRRC is to develop human resources through research and staff development.

There are three main components which make up the core business of the HRRC. These are (1) research, which leads to the production of the Zimbabwe Journal of Educational Research (ZJER), (2) the computer laboratory which assists in Information Communication Technology training and (3) the library which is equipped with a collection of books, reports, journals and other research instruments.

RESEARCH

The Zimbabwe Journal of Educational Research (ZJER) has been housed in the HRRC since 1989. Its main thrust is to facilitate the publication of educational and scholarly research articles written by academics throughout the world. The ZJERis an international refereed journal which has readership which stretches from Africa, America to Europe and Asia. Some of its notable subscribers include scholars from reputable universities such as Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge and Yale.

COMPUTER LABORATORY

The HRRC, with its heart in education and training has a fully equipped computer laboratory which was also established in 1987.   In this laboratory students and academics have access to Information Communication Technology (ICT). With good educational tools such as The Internet, Word Processing Software, Data Base Access tools, SPSS Data Analysis Programmes, PowerPoint and Publisher 2000, students and staff develop a thorough understanding of curriculum development, research techniques, product design and teaching materials through the use of this most valuable resource.
