
Mission
The Mission of the Faculty of Agriculture is to provide up-to-date relevant and appropriate scientific knowledge needed for economically viable, environmentally friendly, diverse and sustainable food production resulting in a satisfactory quality of life for all citizens and their communities.
Objectives
The objectives of the Faculty are:
To prepare University students for careers in agriculture, food, and environmental science by providing high-quality teaching programmes at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and foster in these students life-long habits of leadership, innovation and service (entrepreneurship);
To conduct research in agriculture and food both at basic and applied levels, for the benefit of producers, processors and consumers;
To play a strong and effective role in technology transfer to the agriculture and food industry;
To assist industry and government in fostering economic development;
To create public awareness of technological developments in agriculture and food sectors;
To participate and contribute in agricultural development projects, programmes and policy that will lead to prosperity for agriculture, the food industry in Zimbabwe and other SADC countries; and
To play a leading role in postgraduate training and research in SADC.
