Biography:

Tamuka Joel Mukura is a lecturer in the Department of Economics holding a BSc and MSc Degree in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. He teaches Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Agricultural Development, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Economic Policy and Macroeconomics. Tamuka’s research interests are in agricultural and development economics.  He joined the Department as a part time lecturer in 2008, becoming full-time in 2009. Previously, he worked as senior economist in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mechanization and Irrigation Development’s Economics and Markets Department, representing the Ministry in the Agricultural Coordination Working Group - ACWG (now Agricultural Coordination and Information Forum ACIF)and the Market Linkages Working Group – MLWG (now Market Linkages Association) among other forums. Tamuka provides national budget consultancy services to the Parliament of Zimbabwe’s Local Government and Transport and Infrastructure Development Portfolio Committees as well as the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce provincial budget consultations. In addition, he has chaired seminar/workshop sessions and offered rapporteur services for the Market Linkages Association, Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce, the First Biennial Symposium on Human Settlements Planning Development and Sustainability in Zimbabwe, the National Stakeholder Consultations for the Interim – Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper for Zimbabwe and the High Level Symposium on Inclusive Growth, Investment and Poverty Reduction, just to mention a few. Currently, Tamuka is pursuing his DPhil studies focusing on the technical efficiency, market participation and poverty among smallholder Irish potato farmers in Zimbabwe.

Biography

Tichaona Zivengwa is a lecturer in the Economics department (UZ) teaching Mathematics for Economics, Mathematics for Economic Analysis, Macroeconomics, Agricultural Economic Development and Microeconomics.  He joined the department as a full time lecturer in December 2006. He is also a researcher on macroeconomic problems specialising on development issues. Before joining the University of Zimbabwe’s Economics Department, Tichaona worked for Rural Electrification Agency (REA) and he contributed immensely to the organization’s thrust on Electricity-End-Use Infrastructure Development (EEUID). Tichaona holds a  BSc and an MSc. in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe and is currently studying towards a DPhil in economics. His research interests include institutions, growth, investment and income inequality at both macro and micro level. Biography

Moses Chundu is a renowned Economist, Strategist, Development Enthusiast and Thought Leader whose broad and deep experience has made him versatile and well sought after in the corporate and governance space. He teaches Agriculture Economic Policy, Development Economics and Macroeconomics in the Department of Economics. He consults on strategy and turnarounds and is a registered Corporate Rescue Practitioner (Insolvency Practitioner). He is also a registered Deceased Estate Administrator. For his volunteer community initiatives, he founded Volunteers Association of Zimbabwe (VAZ) as its Chairman promoting the spirit of volunteerism in Zimbabwe and beyond. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Africa Leadership & Management Academy (ALMA) a Campus Crusade for Christ leadership development school. He is highly experienced working and consulting with government and quasi-government organizations in an executive and consulting capacity. As Chairman of a listed industrial conglomerate ART Corporation, he steered the group out of corporate abyss growing the share price by 236% during the year 2015, winning ART the award of Best Performing listed counter in Sub Saharan Africa twice in a row. Throughout his career, he has been heavily tested in pioneering institutions and building winning teams and driving change. His career has seen him through Midlands State University as inaugural Director of the Graduate School of Business & Management; CFX Financial Services Group as Group Economist; Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe in various executive capacities in Homelink (Pvt) Limited, Foreign Investment Promotion Division in the Governor’s Office and Fiscorp (Pvt) Limited. A brief pilgrimage to South Africa in 2007 saw his career through deVere Group and later DBSA working on the World Bank’s Renewable Energy Market Transformation Project for the South African Government. In 2009, he was then called back home on national duty to serve as Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister in the Inclusive Government. He is an international citizen having travelled to over 50 capitals of the world during his illustrious career.

Biography:

Mr Makova joined the Department on 1 November 2004 as a teaching assistant, a position he held until April 2008 when he was appointed a temporary-full time lecturer. In April 2009, his appointment was upgraded to permanent full-time lecturer status. Mr Makova teaches Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics and Industrial Economics. He is in the process of introducing Competition Economics, a new optional course. Since 2009, Mr Makova has provided post-budget analysis support to various portfolio committees in the Parliament of Zimbabwe. Some of the committees he worked with include Natural Resources, Environment and Tourism; Education, Sport, Arts and Culture; and Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services. He was involved in the constitution making process as a data analyst on behalf of UNDP. He has reviewed a Principles of Economics module for the Women’s University in Africa. Mr Makova has worked on a couple of projects with fellow academics from the University of Cape Town. He is pursuing his Dphil studies focusing on performance in the telecommunications sector.
