  1. 1.COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

 

1.1        DEPARTMENT OF DENTISTRY (3 POSTS)

1.1.1     Orthodontics (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree in Orthodontics, preferably MDS, MS or FFD. A foundation degree in the special expert area is a must. Applicants should be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Orthodontics or Children’s dentistry courses. A minimum of two years relevant post qualification experience is required.

1.1.2     Oral Pathology (1 Post)

Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree in Oral Pathology, preferably MDS, MS or FDS. A foundation degree in the special expert area is a must. Applicants should be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate students. A minimum of two years experience after obtaining postgraduate degree is a must.

1.1.3     Prosthodontics (1 Post)           

Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree in Prosthodontics, preferably MDS or MS. A foundation degree in the area of expertise is a must. Applicants should be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe. The successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate students in all aspects of Prosthodontics including Maxillofacial Prosthetic. A minimum of two years experience after obtaining postgraduate degree is a must.

2.1        DEPARTMENT OF SURGERY (9 POSTS)

2.1.1     Orthopaedics (2 Posts)

The applicants should be holders of the Master of Medicine Degree in the relevant post or be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent. A foundation degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a must. Applicants should also be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and possess relevant clinical and teaching experience. The successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in accordance with the curriculum, develop, plan and coordinate teaching and clinical activities, planning and running assessments and assisting and contributing to the general administration of the Department.

2.1.2     Cardiothoracic (1 Post)

Candidates should hold the Master of Medicine Degree in the relevant area or be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent. A foundation degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a must. Candidates should also be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and possess relevant clinical and teaching experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, develop, plan, and coordinate the teaching and clinical activities and assessments, assist in the planning and implementation of academic programmes and contribute to the general administration of the Department.

2.1.3     General Surgery (3 Posts)

Candidates should be holders of the Master of Medicine Degree in the relevant area or be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent. A foundation degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a must. Candidates should also be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and possess relevant clinical and teaching experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, develop, plan and coordinate the teaching and clinical activities, assessments and contribute to the general administration of the Department.

2.1.4     Neurosurgery (1 Post)

Candidates should be holders of the Master of Medicine Degree in the relevant area of expertise or be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent. A foundation degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a must. Candidates should also be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and possess relevant clinical and teaching experience. The successful candidate will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in accordance with the curriculum, develop, plan and coordinate teaching and clinical activities, assessments and contribute to the general administration of the Department.

2.1.5     Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) (2 Posts)

The applicants should be holders of the Master of Medicine Degree in the relevant post or be a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) or equivalent. A foundation degree of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) is a must. Applicants should also be registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and possess relevant clinical and teaching experience. The successful candidates will be expected to teach both undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in accordance with the curriculum, develop, plan and coordinate teaching and clinical activities, planning and running assessments and assisting and contributing to the general administration of the Department.          

3.1        DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY (2 POSTS)

Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent in Clinical Biochemistry, Biochemistry, MBChB and Biotechnology. Experience in routine Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory and expertise in Molecular Biology techniques are a definite advantage. The successful candidates will be expected to teach on the MBChB, MSc (Clinical Biochemistry), MMED, Medical Laboratory Technology, Occupational Health and Physiotherapy degree programmes, provide consulting services of Clinical Biochemistry to Public Health Laboratories, to participate in general Departmental and University administration, and also to research and supervise MSc, MPhil and DPhil students in addition to one’s research.
