WHO MAY BORROW BOOKS?
Any current student, faculty or staff of the University of Zimbabwe with a valid University of Zimbabwe ID.
HOW TO BORROW LIBRARY MATERIALS?
Your University of Zimbabwe student or staff ID serves as your Library
card. Bring items and valid University of Zimbabwe ID to the Circulation
Desk. Please check out materials at least 15 minutes before closing
time

OVERDUE FINES
- Overdue fines are sent as a courtesy. Failure to receive a notice does not absolve the borrower of the responsibility of returning overdue
materials
ORDINARY BOOKS
- US$1 per day for the first 5 days.
- US$2 per day from the 6th day onwards.
SHORT TERM BOOKS
- US$2 per day for the first five days and US$3 thereafter.
RESERVE BOOKS
- US$0.50 per hour for the first two hours and US$0.75 per hour thereafter
FINE PAYMENT
Fine payments are done at the Main library at the Circulation Desk.
LOST BOOKS>
Lost books are charged a non-refundable processing fee of US$5 plus
replacement cost of the book.
DAMAGED BOOKS
The library will determine the cost of repair and bill accordingly. Materials
that cannot be repaired will attract a replacement fee
- Students, Faculty and Staff are responsible for all materials charged
to their accounts.
- Avoid fines by returning all library books on time
LIBRARY DEFAULTERS’ FINES
US$10 will be charged above the fine, for failing to attend the Book
Defaulters’ Meeting.
NB: The judgment passed by the Committee will stand.
- Taking out an un-cleared book - US$20 fine per item.
Approved readers – US$20 fine per item plus cancellation of membership.
- Using another student’s I.D. - US$10 fine.
- Allowing someone to use one’s I.D. -US$10.
- Purchasing a stolen library book – cost of the book.
- Selling books belonging to the Library US$10 fine,
plus book value, plus US$5 processing fee.
- Defacing a book - US$10 fine plus cost of the book
plus US$5 processing fee.
- Using two accounts to borrow books US$10.
- Loosing the disk for the baggage area US$2 fine. All
fines paid should be receipted.
- Leaving your bag overnight in the baggage area US$2
fine.
- Flouting carrel regulations US$2.
- Making noise in the Library US$3.
- Use of cell phones in the Library US$3.
- Misuse of computers (accessing control panels or changing
settings, e-mails, word processing, using diskette,playing computer
games) US$3
- Eating in the Library US$2.
Users with outstanding fines will not be allowed to borrow books.
