MEMBERSHIP

Students

Undergraduate and post graduate, part-time and occassional students with a valid ID card are registered to use the library in the Reader Services Division.

Faculty

Academic staff,visiting researchers and contract staff with valid UZ ID can be registered for borrowing in the Reader Services.

Staff

University employees with valid UZ IDs can be registered for borrowing books. A valid student/staff ID card must be shown, with barcode to the security at the entrance.

Approved Reader Membership

These are non-University customers. Membership comes with a fee paid in the bursar's department. This membership is vetted by the Head-Reader Services. Academic staff and all staff spouses and children and emeritus professors, ambassadors can be registered as Approved readers without paying the designated fees. An Entry Pass is given upon registration at the Reader Services Reference Desk. This membership does not come with borrowing previleges.

BORROWING

Students may borrow ordinary books for 2 weeks.
Academic staff borrow ordinary books for 2 months.
Short-term Loan items and all periodicals may be borrowed for 3 days. Recalled items must be returned by requested date.
Borrowed items may not be renewed.
Fines are accrued for items past the due date.
Patrons are blocked from borrowing when they have fines.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

The library provides ILL service to patrons from other institutions in the country or region. The library provides ILL service to patrons who fail to find material they need for research or teaching purposes in this library. UZ library is linked to SABINET online.
