MISSION
It exists to facilitate the research activities of the institute. It also provides information services to other scholars within the university (staff and postgraduate students) as well as local and visiting scholars. Collection 7400 Books 8500 Items of Grey Literature 10.500 indexed development related articles Disciplines Social Sciences and includes inter-alia issues related to gender, poverty, industrial relations, land reform and rural development, the environment and Science and Technology 20% of the collection covers Zimbabwe and the rest covers Southern African region,Africa in general and developing countries as a whole. Library Database The library has a computerized database called IDIZDO using CDS/ISIS software. It is in the process of intergrating its records into the INNOPAC system.
INTERNET SERVICES
The library has free access to the internet for its staff and approved members.
MEMBERSHIP
Automatic for University of Zimbabwe academic and research staff and post graduate students. Other eligible persons are afforded membership for a fee and they are restricted to reference only.
IDS PUBLICATIONS
The library is responsible for the dissemination and sale of IDS research publications
