Research

Research is central to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Every year the Faculty holds its flagship Annual Medical Research (AMRD) which offers a platform for medical researchers from within the Faculty and beyond to showcase their researches. Outstanding abstracts AMRD on this will be published in the special issue of Central African Journal of Medicine.

As a sign for its dedication to research, the Faculty has the Research Support Centre (RSC) which provides researchers with relevant research information, training and grants management.  The Centre organises trainings such as Grant proposal writing workshops or Good clinical laboratory practice for post-graduate students, junior Faculty and research nurses.

The Faculty is also member of SPARK Global, an initiative from Stanford University. SPARK emphasises new ways of bridging the gap between Academic discoveries and products that benefit the patients. It brings together academia and industry to translate Biomedical Research from the bench-side to the bedside and that entails from the laboratory to the patients.

Currently the Faculty has the following research groups:

            Infectious Diseases and HIV

            Non Communicable Diseases

            Forensic Medicine

            Traditional/ Ethno-medicine

            Vaccinology
