Mission

To have ‘first point of reference’ status within and outside the university with regard to our role as innovative leaders in Teacher Education research and quality assurance based on the principles and philosophy of democratic participation, dialogical management and professional autonomy.

In fulfillment of the above vision and mission which we have set out for ourselves, we are guided by the values which are integral to the university as a national institution of higher learning and those flowing from the central importance of teaching in the mobilization of knowledge resources for development. Overview of the Department

The Department of Teacher Education is the custodian of teacher education in the country. Its programmes are anchored on quality assurance, supervision and monitoring, teaching and research. The Department offers Bachelors, Masters and Doctor of Philosophy degrees aimed at producing high quality resource persons for the diverse education sectors. The full-time and part-time programmes are designed to accommodate the work related needs of the wide clientele base.
