The University of Zimbabwe; the premier institution of Higher Education is the largest and oldest University in Zimbabwe. UZ is located in Mount Pleasant, Harare. The University has 10 Faculties; Arts, Education, Law, Commerce, Agriculture, Science, Veterinary Science, Medicine, Engineering, Social Studies. The University also has a number of Institutes namely: Institute of Environmental Science, Confucius Institute, Institute of Developmental Studies, Institute of Mining Research and Centre for Defence Studies.

Master of Veterinary Science degree in Veterinary Reproduction and Herd Health.

 

COURSES:

Reproduction hormones and reproductive physiology

Biochemistry of hormones and techniques of hormone assay.

Diagnostic techniques in reproduction and artificial manipulation and control of reproductive cycles.

Fertility and reproductive health for dairy and beef cattle

Fertility and produciton in pigs and small ruminants.

Fertility and stud farm management in horses

Udder health and milk quality

Preventive medicine programmes for cattle, horses, pigs and small ruminants, Livestock production Systems, with regard to nutrition, housing, hygiene, social interactions, stress and general management. Disease control and eradication, animal health economics.

Pathology and microbiology of reproductive diseases, Post-mortem procedures, histopathology and histochemistry in reproductive diseases, sample collection, processing  and examination for bacterial, mycotic, viral and protozoa reproductive diseases, Immunology and serological tests in reproduction.

Epidemiology Biostatistics and Research Methodology

Comprise research on a subject of the choice of the candidate with the approval of the Supervisor and the Departmental Board, and continued participation in clinical/fieldwork
