Welcome to the Faculty of Education

 

The University of Zimbabwe's Faculty of Education is the oldest and one of the most prestigious Education faculties in Zimbabwe. Our undergraduate and postgraduate courses are well focused for the development of educational research and teaching in Zimbabwe. Our education research focuses on school development, adult education; science education, teacher education, technical education; teacher development at primary and secondary levels; educational uses of ICT; and maths and science education.

The undergraduate degree offered is the Bachelor of Education. Students can specialize in specific programs including education foundations, elementary education, science education, technical education and teacher education.  Graduate degrees offered include the Master of Education and the Doctor of Philosophy.

Bachelor of education degree in educational management

 

Entry Requirements

 

  • ·         To be admitted to the programme a candidate must normally have: One ‘A’ level pass or an approved equivalent
  • ·         At least 5 ‘0’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics or an approved equivalent.
  •            A teaching Certificate or Diploma. Attained a satisfactory standard on any entrance test which the University may deem necessary.
  • ·         A student may be admitted into a degree programme at the beginning of any semester provided appropriate courses are on offer.
  • ·         Not all courses may be available in any one academic semester.  Other subjects and courses may be added to the list from time to time

 PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

 

·         The degree programme shall normally consist of a minimum of 240 course units.

·         The duration of the programme shall range from four to eight academic semesters.

·         A single course is worth 15 course units and is normally taught in 60 contact hours.  The Project is a full single course (15 course units).

·         A full time student may register for not less than 60 course units in a semester.
