Research Interests: Physical and mechanical properties of materials; Synthesizing and characterization of solids and thin supported films of platinum group metals and  transition metal carbides & nitrides for use in extreme conditions.

Research Experience

  • Elastic properties of thin hard films (carbides and nitrides of transition metals.  and solids (platinum group alloys), using Brillouin light scattering spectroscopy.
  • Preparation of thin films using RF Magnetron sputtering
  • Characterization of solids and thin films using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-Ray reflectometry (XRR), Atomic force microscopy (AFM) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
