Postgraduate education at UZ fosters advanced knowledge, leadership, and specialized skills in professional and academic fields. The University offers two separate intakes every year for Masters enrolment.  Advertisements for the postgraduate programmes are normally flighted in October for the January/February intake and in March for the August/September intake.

Normally, applicants must have obtained an appropriate Honours Degree.  Applicants with a general degree or approved equivalent qualification may be considered by Senate on the recommendation of the Department(s) and Dean(s) concerned.  Normally, such applicants should also possess relevant experience and may be required to pass a qualifying examination set by the University prior to Senate deciding on their acceptability for admission.  The duration of the Masters programmes is usually between 18-24 months.
