Undergraduate Programmes

In all the Degree Programmes applicants should have 5 'O' Level passes including English Language and 2 Arts subjects at 'A' Level are compulsory  for Admissions in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

3.  BA Honours Archaeological Sciences and Human Development- HASHD  At least 2 'A' Level passes including History, Heritage Studies, or Geography and a pass in 'O' Level Mathematics  4 Years 
4.  BA Honours Conflict Peace Building and Social Transformation- HCPST  At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects 4 Years 
5. BA Honours Creative Designs, Amination and Motion Graphics - CDAMG  At least 2 'A' Level passes (Grade B or better) in the following subjects:Art, Computers, Technical Graphics, Fashion Design, Drama, Music, Family Religion, Film, Fine Art, Theatre Arts, Heritage  Studies, Sociology, Swahili, Tonga, Ndebele, Shona, French and Literature in English  4 Years 
 6.   BA Honours in Digital Archival and Historical Information Management- DAH   At least 2 'A' Level passes including History and any other Arts subject   4 Years 
 7.   BA Honours Film Radio and Television Production - HFRTPN  At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects OR A Diploma in Media Studies or related area from an approved institution   4 Years 
 8.   BA Honours Fine Arts- HFA   At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects   4 Years 
9.  BA Honours  Heritage and Economic History- HEHK  At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects including Sociology, Economic History, Economics, History, Heritage Studies, Geography, Business Studies   4 Years 
 10.   BA Honours History of War and Security- HWS 

 At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts and Humanities OR Diploma in War Security or its equivalent from an approved institution

11.  BA Honours  Journalism Media and Broadcasting- HJMB  At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects OR A Diploma in Media Studies or related area from an approved institution 4 Years

 14.   BA  Honours Multilingual Communication Translation and Interpretation- HMCTI  At least 2 'A' Level passes in the  following Arts subjects: History, Heritage Studies, Literature in English, Ndebele Language/ Literature, Shona Language/ Literature, Divinity, Sociology, Heritage Studies, History. Special Entry Requirements: A Diploma in Translation and Interpretation Studies from an approved institution.   4 Years 
15 BA Honours  Multimedia Production- HMMP At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects  4 Years 
 16  BA Honours Philosophy, Ethics and Human Development- HPEHD   'A' Level passes in Arts subjects plus 5 'O' Level  Subjects including English Language OR A Diploma in Philosophy from a recognised institution.   4 Years 
17. BA Honours Religion, Leadership and Society- HRLDS  At least 2 'A' Level passes in Divinity and any other Arts Subjects OR A Diploma in Religious Studies/ Theology from a recognised institution/ relevant work experience  4 Years
 18   BA Honours Risk Reduction  and Disaster Management- HDM   At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts Subjects, Social Sciences, or Diploma in Disaster Management or its equivalent.   4 Years 
 19.   BA Honours Visual and Performing Arts- HVPA   At least 2 'A' Level passes (Grade B or better) in the following Arts subjects: Chinese, Dance, Drama, Music, Family Religion, Film, Fine Art, Theatre Arts, Heritage Studies, Sociology, Swahili, Tonga, Ndebele, Shona, French and Literature in English   4 Years 
 20.  BA Honours Zimbabwe History and International Affairs- HIA   At least 2 'A' Level passes in Arts subjects   4 Years

4.  Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies- MCMS  A good BA Honours Degree with 2.1 or better in Journalism, Media or related programme or its equivalent  1 Year 6 Months 
5.  Master of Arts Conflict  Peace and Governance-MCPG A good Honours Degree with 2.2 or better in Conflict, Peacebuilding and Social Transformation or any other relevant programme  1 Year 6 Months
6. Master of Arts  Digital Humanities - MADH  A good Honours Degree with at least 2.2  pass in Arts and Humanities from University of Zimbabwe or other recognized University  1 Year 6 Months
7.  Master of Arts Disaster Risk Reduction and Management  Systems-MDM  A good Honours Degree with 2.2 Degree class or better in Disaster Risk Management or any other relevant programme 1 Year 6 Months
8. Master of Arts Economic Hisitory Heritage and Knowledge Systems- MEHKS  A minimum of a 2.2 pass in an Honours Bachelor's Degree in Economic History or its equivalent. 1 Year 6 Months 
 9.  Master of Arts Heritage Resource Management and Material Production- MHRMP   A good Honours Degree with at least 2.2 pass in Archeology, Heritage Studies or relevant programme in Arts and Humanities from University of Zimbabwe or any other recognized University   1 Year 6 Months
10.  Master of Arts History and International Affairs- MAHI   good Honours Degree with at least 2.2 pass in History from University of Zimbabwe or any other recognized University   1 Year 6 Months
 11.   Master of Arts Language and Literature Production- MLLP   A good Honours Degree with a 2.2  degree class or better in Bachelor of Arts Honours Language Literature and Intercultural Communication, or their equivalents Special Entry: A first degree in any area in addition of a proven record in the areas of book industry  like writing, editing, publishing,  will also be considered.   1 Year 6 Months
 12.   Master of Arts Language and Multicultural Communication- MATI   A good BA Honours Degree with 2.2 or better in Translation and Interpretation or BA Honours Linguistics/ Applied Linguistics/BA Honours in Language OR Postgraduate Diploma in Translation and Interpretation   1 Year 6 Months
 13.   Master of Arts Linguistics- MLG   A good Honours Degree with Linguistics 2.2, Applied Linguistics or any language related honours degree. Experience in Language related areas will be considered   1 Year 6 Months
 14.  Master of Arts Multi-Media Production  Design Systems- MMPD   A good BA Honours Degree with 2.1 or better in Media related programmes or its equivalent  1 Year 6 Months
15.  Master of Arts Philosophy Practical Ethics and Human Development- MPEHD BA Honours in Philosophy Ethics and Human development with a 2.2 or better from University of Zimbabwe OR its equivalent from other recognized Universities  1 Year 6 Months
16.  Master of Arts in Theology Leadership and Administration- MTLA  A good Honours Degree in Religious Studies or Religion, Leadership and Society or any other programme approved by the Faculty. The Degree should be from a recognised institution and passed with a 2.1 or better. A degree passed with a 2.2 may be considered at the recommendation of the department  1 Year 6 Months
17.   Master of Arts  War and Security- MWS   A good Honours Degree with 2.2 or better in War and Security and any other relevant programme   1 Year 6 Months

The Department of African Languages and Literature offers a broad range of programmes for the following language majors, Kiswahili, Ndebele, Shona and Tonga. In our programmes we offer a range of professional courses which are interdisciplinary in nature to encourage intellectual exchange across disciplines. Our programmes help students achieve their highest potential in terms of excellence in research, teaching, scholarship, community engagement, revitalising, documenting, promoting, preserving, safeguarding and developing African languages, literature and culture as well as indigenous knowledge systems. The programmes produce well-rounded graduates who will serve the Zimbabwean, regional and global community in its diversity.  The following are the programmes on offer;
