HPRM101 Public Relations Principles This module introduces students to the fundamentals of public relations (PR) and its role in shaping organizational image and stakeholder relationships. Emphasis is placed on planning, implementing, and evaluating PR campaigns, as well as understanding the impact of digital and social media in contemporary public relations. Through case studies and practical exercises, students develop skills to communicate effectively and build positive stakeholder engagement.
HPRM102 Marketing Principles I This module introduces the initial part and basic functions of marketing in a modern society.  By the end of the module students will be able to put together the first half of the components of an operational or strategic marketing plan such as the current marketing situation, identification of the target market and analysis of its behavior, and definition of marketing objectives.
BEM101 Business Administration I This module is framed to provide students with a basic understanding of business, its functions and environment and equip them with basic business management skills. Enterprise Development students need these foundation skills to be able to appreciate and apply business management knowledge they
IDBS101 Information and Digital Skills The module is designed for all first-year undergraduate students. The module shall empower students to have knowledge of various information sources, search, retrieve, evaluate, process, and apply information resources in university learning using appropriate technology. The students shall learn and demonstrate how to apply effective search strategies in different technological environments and electronic resources. Students will be expected to demonstrate the ethical and fair use of information resources (plagiarism and referencing). Finally, the students will learn how to integrate 21st-century technologies, eResources and eLearning system into university learning and business.
SDLSBE101 Student Development and Life Skills This is a four-year course broken down into four parts. The course gives brief but succinct coverage of student development theories and how they inform teaching and learning at tertiary education institutions. These theories include William Perry’s Student Development 

Schemer, P. Chickering, J. Piaget and Lawrence Kohlberg’s student development theories. The Module then introduces students to concepts, programmes and activities that foster student quotients; i.e., IQ (Intelligent Quotient), SQ (Social Quotient), AQ (Adversity Quotient), EQ (Emotional Quotient), MQ (Money Quotient or entrepreneurial capability), etc.The course adopts participatory and student-centred approaches in creating platforms for student growth in the following social and soft skills: effective communication, interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, negotiation skills, networking skills, group dynamics, presentation skills, empathy and compassion, community consciousness, voluntarism, leadership skills, integrity, self-efficacy, self-confidence, self-actualisation, self-esteem, critical awareness, responsible citizenship, motivation and self-driven, aesthetical and environmental appreciation, healthy lifestyles, aristocratic social graces and appreciation of art and music, etiquette, grooming and deportment, etc.

Languages and Acquisition and Inter –Cultural Communication – Foreign Language

This module explores the processes of language acquisition and development, with a focus on first and second language learning. It examines linguistic structures, cognitive processes, and sociocultural factors influencing language learning. Additionally, the module addresses the principles and practices of inter-cultural communication, highlighting how culture affects language use, communication styles, and understanding across diverse cultural contexts. Students will develop practical skills for effective communication in multicultural environments, including strategies for overcoming language barriers and fostering intercultural competence in professional and social settings.
HPRM104 Medial Law and Public Relations Ethics This module examines the legal and ethical frameworks governing media practice and public relations. It introduces students to key aspects of media law, including freedom of expression, defamation, copyright, privacy, and intellectual property, while exploring their implications for communication professionals. The module also emphasizes ethical decision-making in public relations, focusing on integrity, transparency, accountability, and corporate social responsibility. Through case studies and practical exercises, students will develop the skills to navigate legal challenges, uphold professional ethics, and make responsible decisions in media and PR practice.
HPRM103 Marketing Principles II This module explores the basic concepts of marketing such as marketing management philosophies, social responsibility and ethics, marketing environment, marketing planning, marketing information and marketing research, market segmentation, positioning, and targeting, and consumer and organisational buying behaviour.  Thus, by the end of the module students will be able to put together the first half of the components of an operational or strategic marketing plan such as the current marketing situation, identification of the target market and analysis of its behaviour, and definition of marketing objectives.
BEM102 Business Administration II The module is an extension of the first semester module acknowledging the wide field of management. The module as is the case with its predecessor ensures that Enterprise Development students build foundation skills needed to appreciate and apply business management knowledge they will be exposed to at higher levels.
ENG201 News and Feature Writing I This module introduces students to the fundamentals of news and feature writing for print, digital, and broadcast media. It focuses on the principles of journalism, including accuracy, clarity, objectivity, and storytelling. Students will learn how to gather information, conduct interviews, verify facts, and structure news and feature stories effectively. The module emphasizes developing strong writing skills, understanding audience needs, and applying journalistic ethics in reporting. Through practical exercises and real-world case studies, students will gain hands-on experience in producing compelling and well-structured news and feature content.
ACCN101 Business Accounting The module equips students with knowledge and skills to analyse various types of negotiations and develop effective strategies to apply in engaging involved parties. The said skills are critical for Enterprise Development students who will inevitably in various types of negotiations with key stakeholders as they plan for setting up, implement and manage their enterprises.
BEM202 Business Statistics The modules enable students to acquire skills required to analyse quantitative data and use the findings to inform managerial decisions.  In today’s world managers need to make evidence-based decisions
HPRM201 Understanding Consumers Students should have an understanding of how customers behave when purchasing.  In particular students must be able to segment customers and then be able to target them with specific offerings of goods and services.  Students will acquire knowledge and competences in understanding the motivations of customers. 
HPRM302 Marketing Management I This is module focuses on the marketing mix (product and services, pricing strategy, promotion and place. management; performance marketing).  Students are expected to have skills and competences to develop marketing plans.
CCLSBE201 Critical Consciousness and Life Skills This module equips all students who study at the University of Zimbabwe with basic knowledge about the nation’s history, strategic interests, its role in the region, its position in the international arena and its international relations. The module provides basic knowledge about Zimbabwe’s pre-colonial, colonial and post-colonial history. For contemporary issues, it touches on basic issues such as demography, economics, politics and foreign policy. The thinking behind this module is that as our students proceed with their university education and later join the labour market, engage in entrepreneurial activities and interact with others both within and outside Zimbabwe, they should be conversant with Zimbabwean history in order to appreciate contemporary issues and debates. This helps foster in them a sense of national consciousness and patriotism critical in their contribution to sustainable development and the maintenance.

BEM203 Business Environment This module introduces students to the dynamic external and internal factors that influence business operations. It explores how economic, political, legal, social, technological, and cultural environments shape organizational strategies and decision-making. Students will gain an understanding of the interactions between businesses and their environments, including global and local market trends, regulatory frameworks, and socio-economic conditions. HPRM305 Marketing Research The module provides Enterprise Development students with the skills to carry out informative research on the markets in which they intend to operate or they are operating in. This module is the backbone of the programme for marketing research facilitates feasibility studies, business planning and assessing the needs of a market (business opportunity analysis).
HPRM306 Media Relations and Stakeholder Management

This module examines the strategic role of media relations and stakeholder management in contemporary organisations. It focuses on how organisations build, maintain, and manage effective relationships with the media and key stakeholders to support reputation, credibility, and organisational objectives. The module introduces students to principles, tools, and practices used in planning and implementing media engagement strategies, stakeholder mapping, message development, and crisis communication. Emphasis is placed on ethical communication, transparency, and responsiveness within dynamic political, social, and digital media environments.

Students will explore traditional and digital media landscapes, understand journalists’ expectations, and learn how to craft press materials, manage interviews, and handle media inquiries. The module also covers identification and analysis of stakeholders, stakeholder engagement strategies, issues management, and evaluation of communication effectiveness. HPRM401 Media Production Theory and Practice

This module integrates theoretical perspectives with practical skills in media production to enable students to understand how media content is conceived, produced, and distributed across various platforms. It introduces key media production theories while developing hands-on competencies in planning, scripting, recording, editing, and presenting media content. The module emphasises storytelling, aesthetics, technical proficiency, and ethical considerations within contemporary media environments.

Students explore the relationship between media theory, culture, technology, and audience, and apply this understanding through practical production exercises in print, broadcast, and digital media formats. Through workshops, projects, and critical reflection, learners gain the ability to produce creative and professional media content while analysing the social and institutional contexts that shape media production.
HPRM403 Service Marketing This module introduces students to the principles and practices of marketing in service-based organisations. It focuses on the unique characteristics of services and how they influence marketing strategy, customer experience, and value creation. The module explores how organisations design,promote, deliver, and manage services to meet customer needs in competitive and dynamic environments.Students will examine key concepts such as service quality, customer satisfaction, relationship marketing, and service branding. The module also addresses service delivery systems, customer relationship management, internal marketing, and the role of technology in service marketing. This module provides an integrated understanding of entrepreneurship, ethical practice, effective communication, and philosophical thinking as essential competencies for professional and business success. It introduces students to entrepreneurial concepts and processes while developing ethical awareness, critical reasoning, and communication skills necessary for responsible decision-making in organisational and societal contexts.The module explores opportunity identification, innovation, and venture creation alongside professional ethics, moral reasoning, and philosophical foundations of knowledge, values, and conduct. This module explores the theory and practice of public relations and public diplomacy in an international and cross-cultural context. It examines how governments, multinational corporations, international organisations, and non-state actors communicate with foreign publics to influence perceptions, build relationships, and advance national or organisational interests. The module emphasises strategic communication, cultural sensitivity, and ethical practice in a globalised media environment.Students study international communication systems, global media dynamics, intercultural communication, nation branding, and soft power. The module also addresses the role of public diplomacy in foreign policy, international conflict, development communication, and global reputation management. HPRM405 Brand Management This module examines the strategic management of brands as valuable organisational assets in competitive markets. It focuses on how brands are created, developed, positioned, and sustained over 

time to build brand equity, customer loyalty, and long-term value. The module integrates theoretical frameworks with practical approaches to brand planning, identity development, and brand communication.Students explore consumer brand perceptions, brand identity systems, brand architecture, and brand portfolio management. The module also addresses contemporary branding issues such as digital branding, employer branding, brand reputation, and global brand management. Through case studies and applied projects, learners develop the ability to design and manage effective branding strategies in diverse market contexts.

HPRM406 Crisis, Issues and Reputation Management

This module examines how organisations anticipate, manage, and respond to crises and emerging issues that may threaten their reputation, legitimacy, and stakeholder relationships. It focuses on strategic communication, risk assessment, and reputation management within complex social, political, and media environments. The module integrates theoretical frameworks with practical tools for identifying issues, planning responses, and protecting organisational credibility.Students explore the nature of organisational crises and issues, reputation management theories, stakeholder expectations, and media dynamics. Emphasis is placed on crisis preparedness, communication strategies, leadership roles, and post-crisis evaluation. Through case studies, simulations, and applied projects, learners develop practical skills in managing crises and safeguarding organisational reputation ethically and effectively.

HPRM407 Marketing Strategy

This module focuses on the formulation and implementation of marketing strategies that enable organisations to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. It examines how organisations analyse their internal capabilities and external market environments to make informed strategic marketing decisions. The module integrates strategic management concepts with marketing theory to guide long-term planning and value creation.Students explore market analysis, competitive strategy, segmentation and positioning at a strategic level, resource allocation, and strategic control. The module also addresses contemporary strategic issues such as digital transformation, global competition, customer-centric strategies, and sustainability. HPRM460 Research Project

This module provides students with the opportunity to conduct an independent, in-depth research study on a topic relevant to their field of study. It focuses on developing research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical or conceptual problems. The module emphasises research design, data collection and analysis, ethical considerations, and effective communication of findings in a scholarly format.

Students will undertake a structured research project under the guidance of an academic supervisor, applying appropriate methodologies, analysing data rigorously, and presenting findings clearly. The module fosters autonomy, problem-solving, and professional research competencies necessary for academic or industry applications.
