MIBM501 Managing the Multinational Corporation The module, Managing the Multinational Corporation, is a fundamental to any International Business Management programme because multinational corporations (MNCs) have to adapt to the environment of target foreign markets.   The module equips students with the range of skills and competences needed to manage MNCs from the tools for analysing the international business environment and those for configuring an organisation to operate in such a dynamic and complex context.  By the end of the module, student should be able to design models/framework for managing MNCs.
MIBM503 International Business Strategy Among other imperatives, the financial viability of MNCs is underpinned by their business strategies.  In this module, students will be equipped with skills and competencies needed to design, execute and evaluate international business strategies.  By the time students complete this module, they should have acquired the knowledge and skills necessary for designing international business strategy models/frameworks.
MIBM504 Cross Cultural Management Copying with foreign culture is one of the challenges experienced by international businesses and their managers in managing international operations.  Consequently, this module will empower students with the theories, concepts, models and frameworks required to unpack and measure the dominant culture(s) in target foreign markets of MNCs.  The module examines culture within the context of Western countries, major Asian countries (like China, India, Japan and South Korea), Middle East and North Africa, and selected countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.  Within this module, students will be empowered with competences to manage business, interpersonal and mass communication strategies across foreign cultures.
MFI509 Accounting for Managers Financial accounting—introduction, recording business transactions, the statement of profit or loss, the statement of financial position, accounting standards (IFRS AND IPSAS), cash flow statements, financial statement analysis, comparison and interpretation; management accounting—the management accounting framework, cost-volume-profit analysis, budgeting and financial planning; public finance; auditing.
MIBM505 International Financial Management For multinational corporations to be profitable, they should be able to maintain a viable fit within their dynamic and complex international financial environment.  This means that students taking this module should have competences essential for managing the international finances of MNCs. Students, therefore, should be able analyse the international monetary system, the balance of payments situation, the foreign exchange market, exchange rate determination and derivatives, risk management, foreign direct investment and cross-border acquisitions, etc.  By the end of the module, students will be able to design models/frameworks in one or more areas of international financial management.
MIBM506 International Business Negotiations Successful international business management is inseparably intertwined with international business negotiations across the international business supply chain, from market entry strategy to exist or divestment strategy.  Students will be equipped with the skills and competencies needed to successfully initiate and conclude negotiations within an international business setting.  By the end of the module, students will be able to design models/frameworks for evaluating and improving international business negotiations.
MIBM507 International Human Capital Management The International Business Strategy module is a general management module within an international or global setting.  Hence international business managers should have functional management skills and competences to manage human resources within the international business setting.  By the end of the module, students will be able to design international human resources models/frameworks.
MIBM508 International Marketing Strategy This module is also included in this degree programme on the assumption that knowledge of international business management is generic hence should be supplemented by knowledge in a functional area such as international marketing. This module, therefore, equips students with the knowledge, skills and competences required to design, implement and evaluate an international marketing strategy.  By the end of the course, students will be able to design models/framework to enhance the international marketing performance of international businesses.
MIBM509 Business Research Methods This module will empower students with the skills and competencies they need to design research methodologies that can generate quality findings for informing regional, international and global business decisions.  As such, students will be equipped with knowledge and skills required to design and implement a worthwhile international business research project. Students will compete this module having also acquired competencies necessary for analysing
MIBM510 International Strategic Management The assumption of this module is that international business managers, as general managers, need knowledge, skills and competences for seamlessly integrating functions such as accounting and finance, human resource management and marketing to create a pragmatic long-range international business strategy. Consequently, this module advances the knowledge, skills and competencies acquired in the International Business Strategy module by exposing students to the theory and practice of International Strategic Management.  Students will acquire skills and competencies necessary for designing, implementing and evaluating long-range strategies or strategic plans for international businesses.
MIBM570 Dissertation The dissertation is a six-month research project of about 20000 words based on an agreed topic of international business. A student initially writes and submits an individual pure or applied research project proposal of 1500 to 3000 words that, if approved, they then implement.  Each student is assigned an academic supervisor who guides her to implement the proposal and write the dissertation.
