Lucy Mashiri

Qualifications: MSc in Social Ecology, University of Zimbabwe, Bsc in Sociology, University of Zimbabwe, Executive Certificate in Programme and Project Monitoring and Evaluation, University of Zimbabwe 

Bio: Ms Lucy Mashiri is a Junior Lecturer in the Department of Social and Community Development, University of Zimbabwe. She is a Registered PhD student at the University of Zimbabwe and her research interest is on Urban Crime and future prevention of crime.  Her PhD thesis reads “A Predictive Model to Curb Crime in Zimbabwe’s Urban Areas using the Socio-Spatial-Temporal-Ecological Lenses. 

Research Interests: Urban crime dynamics and solutions; livelihood strategies; sustainable agriculture; social forestry, resettlement and deforestation, especially the impact of tobacco curing on natural forests.

Qualifications: Msc in Sociology and Social Anthropology, Bsc in Sociology, University of Zimbabwe  

Bio: Calvin Kunaka is a Lecturer in the Department of Social and Community Development, University of Zimbabwe. He his a holder of Master’s degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the University of Zimbabwe (2020) and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours Degree in Sociology, University of Zimbabwe (2018). Currently Mr Kunaka is a PhD candidate at the University of Zimbabwe on Sports sociology and commercilization of sports. In 2023 Mr Kunaka won a World Rugby Grant which focused on social and economic welfare of Rugby players in Zimbabwe. Some of Mr Kunaka interests areas involves urban livelihoods, urban housing policy,  climate change and rural livelihoods, gender inequalities, sports and ineqaulaities, gender based violence. His research interests include urban livelihoods, urban housing policies, climate change and rural livelihoods, gendered inequalities in sport and Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Research Interests: Sports Sociology, Sporting Livelihoods, Anthropology of medicine, Environmental Anthropology, gender-based violence, gender Inequalities, Livelihoods
