Desired Qualifications and Essential Attributes

The applicant should have:

  • a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems or a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems or a Bachelor of Business Studies, with Computing Science.
  • The applicant should be qualified to audit I.T systems through the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certification in Risk and Information Systems Control or Certification in Governance and Enterprise I.T.

Experience and Skills

The applicant must have:

  • At least four years’ experience in Information Systems auditing;
  • Knowledge of and experience in using at least one type of auditing software such as Integrated Data Extraction and Analysis (IDEA) and Audit Command Language (ACL)
  • Experience in dealing with integrated information systems
  • Experience in analysing networked systems, and
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of the I. T Auditor shall include:

  • Identification and evaluation of risk in the University’s I.T systems;
  • Examination and evaluation of general I.T controls in all University’s I.T systems;
  • Evaluating the extent to which I.T systems (either in place or under development), adequately satisfy operational requirements and identify essential improvements;
  • Using audit software to check and evaluate the integrity of data held in different applications;
  • Evaluating the strength of the University’s computer system against cyber threats and crimes;
  • Training audit staff in matters relating to the auditing of I.T systems and;
  • Generating reports on results of I.T audits for presentation to the Chief Internal Auditor.
  • Carrying out any other duties, relevant to the position, as assigned by the Chief Internal Auditor.
