Bio: Mrs Chipo Chitereka has been teaching at the University of Zimbabwe since 2017. She is currently studying towards a DPhil in Social Work at the University of Zimbabwe. Mrs Chitereka is an experienced lecturer and researcher in the following areas: Social Policy and Administration, Community Social Work, Research Methods and Criminal Justice Administration and Human Rights. She is the current Research and Innovation Coordinator of the Department of Social Work. She is also an advocate for the inclusion of social work services in Zimbabwean schools (School Social Work).

Research Interests: Children in conflict with the law, Children’s education, Mental Health, Drug and Substance Abuse and Social Protection.

Bio: Hazvinei Aquila Vera is a qualified clinical social worker with local and international experience in providing high quality care and support to a variety of client populations for over 15 years. She joined the University of Zimbabwe in 2023 under the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Department of Social Work. She is particularly focused on child and adolescent development and mental health. She has a consistent track record of working successfully with individuals, families and groups, all within a variety of settings. She is passionate about advancing the field of clinical social work and holistic mental health services in Zimbabwe and the African region through research and practice, especially Child and Adolescent Mental Health service provision and Trauma informed care and services. Her research interests are centered around evidence based trauma interventions and developing local knowledge base for preventing and treating mental health challenges and maintaining mental wellbeing in the African context.

Research Interests: Clinical Social Work; Child and Adolescent Mental health; Cultural Competency in Clinical Practice; Evidence Based Practices; Trauma-informed Practice.
