Bio

Dr Trust Zaranyikadid his undergraduate degree in Medicine at the University of Zimbabwe graduating with honoursin 1998. His internship was in Bulawayo at United Bulawayo Hospitals and Mpilo Hospitals. He served as a government medical medical officer at Mutare General Hospital for a year before taking up an SHO position in General Surgery at Parirenyatwa Hospital for another year. He left Zimbabwe in 2003 to Namibia where he worked as a State Doctor, Principal Medical Officer and eventually Provincial Chief Medical Officer for the Otjozondjupa Region. In 2009 he enrolled for studies at the University of Capetownin Internal Medicine. He obtained a Gold Medal for excellence from the College of Physicians, South Africa – AM Meyers Medal. He then returned to Zimbabwe and joined the University of Zimbabwe from UCT in 2015. With the experience and mentorship obtained during attachment in the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Unit at UCT, a dedicated Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit was established at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals under the Mentorship of Retired Professor Allan McGregor   Kings College London. In 2018 he obtained a Certificate in Endocrinology and Diabetes with the Royal College of Physicians , United Kingdom. Initially a lecturer, then a Programme Coordinator for the Unit of Internal Medicine, Dr Zaranyika now serves as Chair of Internal Medicine from 1 October 2023 and is a practising internal medicine physician and endocrinologist.

Research Interests: Main areas of published research are HIV and endocrinopathies, Diabetes, COVID 19, Antimicrobial resistance, Autoimmune Endocrinopathies
