Climate Change, Adaptation and Mitigation |
The module is designed to provide a deep understanding of atmospheric processes and phenomena and the resultant weather and climatic patterns. The study of the causes and impacts of climate change and the measures required to mitigate the impacts and adapt is complex. This module aims at understanding the fundamentals of the causes, impacts and management measures involved in dealing with climate change. In addition, introduces students to mitigation and adaptation measures that are being adopted across the globe. |

IKS and Environmental Management |
This module provides students with a solid background on how indigenous knowledge systems (IKS) can be used to manage the environment. The module compares and contrasts Western Science and IKS; it examines why IKS should be part of environmental management, and how IKS can be applied at both micro-level and macro levels. |

The Geographies of Agriculture for Industrial Development |
The module looks at how green or sustainable technologies can protect the environment and in some cases, even to repair past damage to the environment and thereby steer agriculture along a more sustainable path. Examples of such technologies include conservation tillage, integrated pest management, enhanced nutrient management, and precision agriculture. It then identifies the barriers to adopting these technologies and how they have been come in selected developed and developing countries. |

Geography of Tourism |
The module explores the spatial dimensions of tourism with an emphasis on Geographical theories, patterns and processes. It critically examines the interaction between tourism environment and society while equipping students with the pedagogical tools to teach and research on tourism geography in educational context. It looks at the advanced understanding of geographical foundations of tourism, it analyzes spatial patterns, floors, and impacts of tourism at global regional and local scale. It also encourages critical reflection on sustainability and ethical considerations in tourism development. |

Dissertation |
The module provides students with range of tools, approaches, strategies, data collection methods and concepts that are necessary in educational research It provides them with the knowledge and abilities to undertake their own research. The module also focuses on a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection and data analysis and prepares students to carrying out meaningful educational research. The module prepares students on issues related to language, referencing, writing style, lay-out when writing a research report and also how to write a comprehensive research proposal. Students will be exposed to various computer mediated tools such as tools and technologies for data collection and analysis |
