The MMED Medicine programme provides specialist training in internal medicine. The training programme is the backbone of provision of quality specialist services at the teaching hospitals, while the graduands from the programme go on to provide specialist services in healthcare institutions across the country, some become academics and researchers and others take up leadership roles in various health programmes of national interest. For example physicians are at the forefront of operational research in areas of Infectious Diseases including Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, and Non-communicable diseases.
