Conduct During the Examination

  • Once in an examination venue, students should pay attention to and abide by the instructions given by the Invigilator(s).
  • Students are required to maintain total silence during the course of the examination.  All forms of communication with fellow candidates is not allowed. Raise your hand for assistance.
  • Candidates must not turn to the question paper until advised to do so by the Invigilator. 
  • Once advised to open the question paper, candidates should ensure that they are sitting for the correct examination by checking the Module code and narration. 
  • Candidates should also ensure that they have a complete question paper by checking the page and question sequencing. 
  • Cheating is not allowed and will not be tolerated. Those caught allegedly cheating will be handled through the University Student Disciplinary procedures.
  • All responses to examination questions should be done using official answer booklets provided by the University.  Drafts and notes should be done on the official answer booklet and appropriately crossed out.
  • Students may not leave the examination venue within the first thirty (30) minutes of the examination and the last ten (10) minutes of the examination. 
  • Candidates may not eat, drink or smoke during the course of the examination. 
  • Students must seek permission from the Invigilator should they want to leave their seats for whatever reason and would be duly escorted.

Reporting and Entry to the Examination Venue

  • Candidates should report to the respective examination venues at least thirty (30) minutes before the commencement of the scheduled examination(s).
  • Before entry into the examination venue, candidates must check the seating plan on the notice boards at their respective venues. The seating arrangement is always in the alphabetical order of the candidates’ surnames.
  • Students must bring with them, their current student identity cards with visible personal face pictures as confirmation of bona-fide studentship.  Impersonation is not allowed and those caught using other students’ identity cards will be deemed to have breached examination regulations and shall be handled through the institutional disciplinary procedures. 
  • Those without valid student identity cards shall not be admitted into the examination venues.   
  • Upon entry into the examination venue, candidates must quietly look for their seats by identifying the Examination Attendance slip bearing their name.   
  • Once in the examination venue, candidates are required to place their student identity cards on their desks.  The student identity card must remain accessible on the candidate’s desk throughout the examination.  
  •   No candidate shall sit on spaces with an Examination Attendance Slip bearing another candidate’s detailsThose who fail to identify their seats should request assistance from invigilators present.
  • Candidates may not bring into the examination venue, cellular phones, smart watches, laptops and related gadgets which store data, can retrieve data have alarms and may connect to the internet. 
  • Candidates shall not bring into the examination venue any written materials, books, notes and blank paper, except if so specified. Where such materials are allowed, these should be unannotated.
  • Candidates may not enter the examination venue thirty (30) minutes after start of the examination.
