Research Interests: Rehabilitation machines automation; Functional Electrical stimulation; Electrical drive system control.
Mr H.M. Katongera is currently with University of Zimbabwe as a lecturer in the Electrical and Electronic Department. He teaches Electrical and Electronic topics including Analogue Electronics, Microprocessors Fundamentals, Advanced Electrical Principles and Computer Engineering. He has vast experience primarily as a hardware design engineer and software development to support the hardware. Fields of interest for research include Medical Instrumentation, Analogue and Digital Control Systems, Advanced Electronics Design and Renewable Energy primarily Photovoltaic.
His career began as a research and development engineer for power conditioning devices with Powervision. After that, a significant amount of his experience has been in design and testing of medical rehabilitation devices, including laboratory infrastructure development support within the Institute of Rehabilitation and Performance Technology, in the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Through Creaholic SA in Biel, he has gained well appreciated experience and exposure in new innovative product development, developing the control electronics for new products, and integration of skills and ideas with people of different technical background and culture.
