HMMP 104 Graphic Design and Editing This module is designed to introduce students to the foundational skills required in both graphic design and video editing. Over the course students will gain hands-on experience with industry-standard software tools (such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve) to create visually compelling designs and videos.
HMMP 105 Introduction to Digital Media Technologies This course is an introduction to Audio, Lighting and Vision Technology Systems for digital media productions. This course is designed to build the foundation knowledge required to prepare students for the professional roles in live performance and exhibitions. This course is a first step to a full understanding of the importance of technology in today’s modern performance environment. In this course students will be introduced to the historical context of Audio, equipment types and difference, safe use of audio equipment, how to operate and maintain audio equipment, and the audio system in live theatre performance, film and television. Students will be introduced to Lighting, Audio and Vision Systems in live theatre performance, film and television. Students will interrogate the historical development of lighting, audio and vision systems, equipment types and difference, safe use of lighting, audio and vision systems equipment.
HMMP 106 Introduction to Performance and Culture

This course exposes students to specific dance forms and styles that represent different aesthetic, cultural and sociological points of origin.

This course aims to ground students on various aspects of Zimbabwean traditional culture by means of performance. Cultivate a deep appreciation of African cultures, traditions and heritage. By the end of this course students should be able to produce indigenous/traditional cultural performance, outline the functions of music and dance in pre-colonial societies, explain the symbiosis between dance and society, elaborate the choreographic construction of indigenous dances, dance and sing traditional songs and dances. Traditional Ceremonies- Bira, Jakwara, Nhimbe, Mukwerera, Ndari, Jenaguru, Inxwala, Traditional dances and music such as mbakumba, dinhe, mhande, Pfonda, Mbende, chidzimba,ngororombe, muchongoyo, amabhiza, amatshomane, isitshikitsha, indhlamu shall be explored in performance.
HMMP 205 Folk Media and Development The module covers courses in the following areas; theatre, drama skits, graffiti Festivals, Carnivals and Roadshows; Digital humanities and/as Development; Folk and Mass Media. The module explores how traditional communication systems (such as folk dramas, Skits, role plays, rites, folk music and puppets) can be utilized in contemporary Development Communication. Students will explore how and why,these are regarded as popular communicative tools embedded in a community’s system of life and thought and can be relevantly placed to communicate a wide variety of messaging.
HMMP 206 Integrated Production Skills This is an integrated production oriented course in which students will acquire phenomenal directorial techniques. The training emphasizes process skills such as movement, composition, picturisation, stage balance, blocking, and rhythm and text analysis. This course combines theory with practical workshops in such a way that theory will be largely informed by practice. This course is aimed to inculcate solid skills in the student so that they acquire the highest level of competence in directing as leadership. The course aims to develop the student’s ability to apply the basic fundamentals of play directing while providing each student with an opportunity to demonstrate his/her effectiveness as a director through the presentation of a short extract from a play of his/her own choice.
HMMP 207 Graphic Designing Interface Graphic Design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas. The designer works with a variety of communications tools in order to visually convey a message for a client’s product or service to a particular target audience. This course will give students a foundation in Graphic Design by introducing them to the various aspects of the Graphic Design field.
HMMP 340 Arts Administration This course provides students with practical experience in the administration of arts organizations and events, focusing on strategic planning, financial management, marketing, and programming. Students will develop skills in identifying and securing financial support, creating fiscal stability, and leading arts initiatives. Through the planning and execution of an individual arts event, students will apply theoretical concepts to real-world scenarios, developing practical expertise in event planning, fundraising, and marketing, and preparing them for leadership roles in the arts sector.
HMMP 330 Project Monitoring and Evaluation This module has been designed to introduce the principles and practices of project planning and evaluation in multimedia production. It focuses on how multimedia projects are identified, planned, implemented, monitored, and evaluated across creative, organisational, and community-based contexts. Guided by the Education 5.0 philosophy, the course integrates theory with practice, innovation, and problem-solving. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based planning, effective use of project management and evaluation tools, assessment of project outcomes and sustainability, and the development of practical and innovative multimedia solutions with entrepreneurial and industry relevance.
HMMP 390 Work-Related learning Report This module is designed to integrate academic theory with practical workplace experience, enabling students to critically reflect on professional practice within a real organisational context. The module requires learners to document their placement environment, roles and responsibilities, and the skills and competencies developed during the attachment period. It emphasizes reflective learning, professional ethics, problem-solving, communication and the application of discipline-specific knowledge to real-world challenges. Through structured reporting and analysis, the module supports personal and professional development, enhances employability, and encourages students to evaluate how workplace learning informs their academic and career trajectories.
HMMP 404 Theory and practice in drama therapy This module provides an introduction to the field of drama therapy, exploring its theories, principles and applications through lectures, discussions, readings and experiential learning. It offers an overview of the history of drama therapy, its foundations in theatre and psychotherapy and key approaches and theories. Ethical considerations and various techniques of practice will be examined. The module highlights the role of dramatic art forms in achieving therapeutic goals such as symptom relief, emotional and cognitive integration, and personal growth. This module does not train students to become professional Drama Therapists. The aim of this module is to deepen students’ understanding of drama and performance as tools for healing and therapy. Students will analyse Western theories and approaches while exploring the application of drama therapy in contemporary African contexts.
HMMP 405 Arts Entrepreneurship This course provides a comprehensive exploration of entrepreneurial principles and practices in the arts, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create sustainable ventures in the performing arts sector. Through a blend of theoretical frameworks and practical applications, students will develop a nuanced understanding of arts entrepreneurship, learning to navigate the intersection of artistic vision and business acumen.
HMMP 470 Project The module equips learners with the skills of carrying out the actual research and writing a research project through data collection. The students are given an opportunity to research on a topic of their choice. This module derives support from other fundamental modules in the degree programme with the guidance of an experienced faculty member.

HCDAMG 104 Graphic Design Interface This module allows students to explore and master the use of computers to aid the design process. Focus will be on the use of AutoCAD software to create readable designs of the products being developed. Topics to be covered are: computer drafting, manipulation of extrusions, wire frames, solid models, 3-D modelling, ways to render 3-D drawings in situational projects, orthographic projections, isometric projections, CAD annotations, pictorial sketches, and solid modelling and dimensioning. Students will be required to design digital models and graphics that can be used to promote them.
HCDAMG 105 Introduction to Digital Media Technologies The module introduces students to design, taking them through its history to its current state. HCDAMG 404 Digital Media Effects This module will equip students with the ability to create visual tricks and illusions in films, television shows and video games. Instruction will be given on the digital technologies required to create both visual effects (vfx) and sound effects (sfx).Students will be taught the animated film-making technique in which objects are manipulated in small increments between individually photographed frames. The skills acquired will allow students to create cutout animations, pixilations as well clay or plascticine-based claymations.
HCDAMG 205 Audio Visual Library This module provides students with comprehensive access to a curated collection of audio-visual resources essential for animation students. It covers the effective utilization of multimedia content, sound design, and visual references to enhance creative projects. Students will learn how to source, analyze, and incorporate audio-visual materials into their workflows, fostering research skills, inspiration, and technical proficiency in animation production

Project Monitoring and Evaluation

The purpose of this module is to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively plan, monitor, and evaluate media projects. This module typically covers topics such as monitoring tools and techniques, evaluation methods, impact assessment, data analysis and reporting, project risk management, case studies and best practices, ethical considerations, future trends in project monitoring and Evaluation. Students will learn how to assess the impact and effectiveness of media projects, identify strengths and weaknesses, and make recommendations for improvement. This module helps students develop critical thinking, analytical, and project management skills essential for success in the media and communication field.

Work Related Learning Report

HCDAMG 405 Curatorial and gallery studies This module introduces students to the museum as an art institution which deals with cultural heritage. The module entails visits to museums and studying its operations. Guest lecturers are part of the modules as well as simulations and curating of exhibitions.
 HCDAMG 404  Capstone Project  Ultimately students will apply the knowledge, skills and techniques they have acquired throughout the program to create an original animation or speculative fiction short film.  The Capstone Project is a comprehensive module which encompasses the following examinable aspects: scriptwriting and concept development, realization of final product and planning and implementation of a screening of the film. Students are expected to collaborate with industry for this project. Students will be encouraged to tap into Zimbabwe’s socio-political and cultural heritage to develop stories that reflect the nation’s mythologies, cultures and belief systems
 HCDAMG 470  Project/Dissertation  The module equips learners with the skills of carrying out the actual research and writing a research project through data collection. The students are given an opportunity to research on a topic of their choice. This module derives support from other fundamental modules in the degree programme with the guidance of an experienced faculty member. The length of the research project should range from 10 000 to 12 000 words.
