ECD101 Principles of Microeconomics This module intends to give students awareness on the operation of Microeconomics: which deals with the economic behaviour of households, individuals, firms, or a particular market. It introduces students to the economic way of thinking which recognises that economic agents must make trade-offs which involve costs between competing alternative uses of scarce resources. 
ECD102 Descriptive Statistics & Probability Models in Economics The module introduces students to a range of statistical ideas and techniques especially the basic skills required for preparing and analysing statistical data. The module aims to develop an understanding of how to work with data and how to use data to describe economic phenomena.
ECD103 Mathematics for Economics The module is an applications-oriented which provides basic mathematical tools for understanding economics at both micro and macro level. Economists make mathematical tools and models in simplifying seemingly complex theories and ideas. This module introduces basic mathematical tools that are frequently used in economic analysis. The module is designed to explain the basic mathematical concepts in a more intuitive and applied way.
ECD104 Principles of Macroeconomics This module seeks to introduce macroeconomics, the study of the behaviour of overall economy as opposed to the behaviour of individuals, firms, or a particular market.
ECD105 Sampling Theory & Statistical Inference in Economics This is the second component of economic statistics module and the module entirely depends on the concepts already covered in the first semester in that it wholly applies probability tools to objective decision making.
ECD106 Mathematics for Economic Analysis This module improves the student’s understanding of economic theory and application of mathematical techniques and tools to microeconomic and macroeconomics concepts. The module provides some of the necessary mathematical tools for higher level modules in economics. The module seeks to give students a basic knowledge of mathematical tools and techniques required in most of the fields of economics. 
IDBS101 Information and Digital Skills The module is designed for all first-year undergraduate students. The module shall empower students to have knowledge of various information sources, search, retrieve, evaluate, process,and apply information resources in university learning using appropriate technology. The students shall learn and demonstrate how to apply effective search strategies in different technological environments and electronic resources. Students will be expected to demonstrate the ethical and fair use of information resources (plagiarism and referencing). Finally, the students will learn how to integrate 21st-century technologies, eResources and eLearning system into university learning and business.
SDLSBE101 Student Development and life Skills This module aims to equip students with essential personal, interpersonal, and professional skills necessary for holistic development and success in academic and professional settings. It covers topics such as time management, effective communication, problem-solving, leadership, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and stress management. The module also addresses career planning, ethical decision-making, financial literacy, and strategies for maintaining physical and mental well-being. By the end of the module, students will have enhanced their self-awareness, resilience, and life skills, enabling them to navigate challenges, engage productively in society, and achieve personal and professional goals.
LAICBM100 Language Acquisition and Inter- Cultural communication This module explores the processes of language acquisition and development, with a focus on first and second language learning. It examines linguistic structures, cognitive processes, and sociocultural factors influencing language learning. Additionally, the module addresses the principles and practices of inter-cultural communication, highlighting how culture affects language use, communication styles, and understanding across diverse cultural contexts. Students will develop practical skills for effective communication in multicultural environments, including strategies for overcoming language barriers and fostering intercultural competence in professional and social settings.
ECD202 Fundamentals of Econometrics Fundamentals of Econometrics is a foundation module that introduces the student to basic econometric modelling. The module emphasizes the use of linear regression model on analysing economic relationships. Students are introduced to specific issues of model specification, estimation, and inferences.
ECD204 Intermediate Macroeconomics This module is an intermediate module in macroeconomics that seeks to introduce students to the building blocks of intertemporal aspects of consumption; savings, investment and government sector. The module explores how output is determined in both the closed and open economy.
ECD205  Applied Mathematics for Economists  The principal aim of the module is to expose students to how mathematics can be used to sharpen and clarify economic analysis. The module is offered to students with a basic grounding in mathematics for economists as it extensively uses graphical analysis and mathematical models.
 ECD206  Intermediate Microeconomics  This module builds on the microeconomic principles studied in the first year Principles of Microeconomics module and provides an analysis of the way in which the market system functions as a mechanism for coordinating the independent choices of individual economic agents.
 ECD301  Microeconomic Theory and Practice  This module introduces students to advanced microeconomics and seeks to deepen students’ understanding of basic concepts, add further tools of analysis and develop their skills in applying theory to economic problems. The module is designed for students to gain an appreciation of the value of economic reasoning and to develop the fundamental economic analytical skills critical in solving economic problems.
ECD303 Applied Econometrics This module is designed to equip students with a solid and up-to-date foundation in modern applied econometrics. It extends the students’ knowledge of economic theory gained in the Fundamentals of Econometrics to real world applications.
COE201 Fundamentals of programming The module introduces the fundamental concepts of technical programming. It is an introduction to the fundamentals of computer programming, which is the foundation of Computer Science. Topics include algorithms and problem solving, data types, control structures, functions, arrays, files, and the mechanics of running, testing, and debugging. The module also offers an introduction to the antique and collective context of computing.
 COE202  Discrete Mathematics  The purpose of this module is to understand as well as use discrete structures that are mainstays of computer science.  The module is meant to introduce logic, proofs, sets, relations, functions, counting and probability, with an emphasis on applications in computer science and economics.  It emphasises mathematical definitions and proofs as well as applicable methods.  
 COE301  Data Structures and Algorithms  This module introduces students to new types of data structures including binary, heaps, stacks and queues. Students will learn how to design new algorithms for new data structure, create and perform simple operations on graph data structures, describe common algorithms for working with advanced data structures as well as recognize which data structure is the best to use to solve a particular problem.   
 RISBE301  Research and Innovation Skills  This module introduces students to the fundamental principles and practices of research in higher education, with emphasis on building basic research literacy and skills. It familiarises learners with the nature and purpose of research, types of research, and the research process, including problem identification, formulation of research questions and objectives, literature review, and basic research design. The module also introduces qualitative and quantitative approaches, simple data collection methods, basic data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations in research. By the end of the module, students will be equipped with foundational competencies necessary to read, understand, and conduct simple academic research, preparing them for advanced research work in later stages of their studies.

CCLSBE201 Critical Consciousness and Life Skill This module focuses on the development of self-awareness, critical thinking, and practical life skills to enable students to navigate personal, academic, and professional challenges effectively. It explores concepts of critical consciousness, ethical decision-making, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence. Students engage with strategies for time management, goal setting, communication, teamwork, and stress management. The module also encourages reflection on social, cultural, and ethical issues, equipping students with the skills to act responsibly and make informed decisions in diverse contexts.
COE380 Work Related Learning This will be directed work integrated learning (WIL) with specific deliverables and outcomes. This will be based on one or a combination of models that the university has adopted for industrial training.

ECD402 Development Economics This objective of this module is to familiarize students with the concept of development and the various ways of measuring it as well as to make them understand and be in a position to apply the main theories and models of economic growth and development.
ECD401 Public Finance Economics This module seeks to equip students with a theoretical understanding of the basic functions of the public sector and to develop the skills appropriate to the economic analysis of the role and effects of government intervention in the market.  
ECD405 Monetary Economics The module seeks to equip students with a theoretical understanding of the basic functions of the monetary or financial sector and to develop the skills appropriate to the economic analysis of the role and effects of Central Bank intervention in the market.
 ECD460  Project  The project will be based on the core business of the programme and will offer students an opportunity to apply gained theoretical economics knowledge on complex development economic problems.
 ECD302  Macroeconomic Theory and Policy  This module aims to build on the knowledge that the students already gained from Intermediate Macroeconomics. The module seeks to equip the students with the skills to apply in developing macroeconomic policies that address national macroeconomic problems.
 FET402  Financial Econometrics  This module aims to introduce students to the fundamental techniques used in the analysis of financial data, and to provide the necessary econometric background to carry out empirical investigations.
 COE303 Computational Methods for Economists  The module introduces the students to a broad set of computational methods used by economists. The module starts with an economic problem, select an appropriate numerical technique for analysing it, apply the technique to the problem, and present findings. The programming language of choice which will be used is Python. Though the numerical techniques should be those indicated in the Programme Structure, the economic topics may be selected and the aim is to have economic examples also when presenting the basics of Python.
COE 302 Computer Organisation The primary objectives of this module is to introduce students to the foundations of computer organization and to develop the ability to perform programming in an assembly language. After completing this module student should be able to perform elementary quantitative performance evaluation of computer systems.
COE402 Big Data Management and Analysis The module equips students with a foundation in big data analysis. It prepares students with essential skills required in the analysis of big data. Students are prepared to handle and analyse large data sets as well as exposing them to data sets from national data sets such as Census, Demographic Health Surveys and labour surveys. The module combines classroom lectures as well as practical which will be done in computer assisted laboratories. Students need to have a background in mathematics, statistics and econometrics.
COE403 Machine Learning Machine learning as a module is universal, with applications bridging from business intelligence to homeland security. The module will familiarize students with a broad knowledge of models and algorithms for machine learning as well as preparing students for research and industry application of machine learning techniques.
 COE 404  Object Oriented Programming  This module teaches object-oriented programming to those who have learnt basic programming concepts. This module covers the core features of the Python programming language, using programs to collect, process, and analyse data, as well as object-oriented programming.  The module also applies computational thinking approaches such as abstraction, decomposition, algorithmic design, generalization, evaluation, and debugging.
 COE405  Data Intensive Computing  This module is a circuit through various research topics in distributed data-intensive computing, covering topics in cluster computing, grid computing, supercomputing, and cloud computing. The module explores solutions and learning design principles for building large network-based computational systems to support data intensive computing.  The module deals with diverse data formats, storage models, application architectures, and programming models and algorithms and tools for data analytics.
COE460 Project The project will be based on the core business of the programme.  Students will do a project related to theory and knowledge gained from the attachment.  The project will offer students an opportunity to apply computational knowledge on complex economic problems.

 EPECPBE301  Entrepreneurship, Professional Ethics, Communication and Philosophy  This module introduces students to the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship, professional ethics, communication, and philosophy as they relate to personal, professional, and societal development. It equips learners with entrepreneurial thinking and innovation skills while fostering ethical awareness, critical reasoning, and effective communication in diverse organisational and social contexts. The module explores ethical decision-making, professional conduct, philosophical foundations of knowledge and values, and the role of communication in leadership, teamwork, and enterprise development. Through participatory and reflective learning approaches, students develop problem-solving abilities, moral responsibility, critical thinking, and communication competence necessary for ethical entrepreneurship, responsible citizenship, and professional practice in a dynamic and globalised environment.
