David Muradzikwa joined the Security Department in January 2015 as a Security Officer. Before joining the Security Department, he was a Chief Inspector in the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) stationed at Mashonaland West Province, Provincial Training wing as the Provincial Training Supervisor. During his service as a member of ZRP, he worked at various Police Stations and held several commanding positions. David Muradzikwaalso worked as an Officer In-Charge of various Police stations and is a seasoned Police Trainer, Investigator, Administrator and is good in Public relations.

He is a holder of the following qualifications:-

  • Diploma in Police Studies – Police Staff College
  • Business Studies Certificate – Harare Polytechnic
  • Junior Officers Staff Course – Zimbabwe Staff College – Zimbabwe National Army
  • Law of Armed Conflict – Zimbabwe Staff College – Zimbabwe National Army
  • Junior Officers Command Course – Police Staff College
  • Train the trainer Course – Police Staff College

Currently David Muradzikwa is In-Charge of Shift Three at the University of Zimbabwe and is responsible for supervising Sergeants and Security Guards under his command. He is also doing investigation duties, attending to scenes of crime and training- related duties among others.

Mr Moffat Makuvatsine

Mr Moffat Makuvatsine joined the Security Department in 2015 as a Security Officer. Prior to joining the Security Department, Mr Makuvatsine served in the Police force from 2001 to 2012 after having undergone a one year training programme. Whilst in the Police force he rose to the rank of Sergeant and was performing investigation duties among other duties. In 2005, MrMakuvatsine attained a Certificate in Public Prosecution with the Police Staff College, an affiliate College of the University of Zimbabwe. He then did Prosecution duties at Chivhu, Chitungwiza, Beatrice and Harare Magistrates’ Court until 2012 when he resigned from the Police force.He then joined Zimbabwe Clover Legal Aid Society as an acting Legal Advisor up to the time he resigned to join the University of Zimbabwe Security Department in 2015.

Currently, MrMakuvatsine is a shift commander responsible for supervising Sergeants and Security Guards. His duties include, among others, crime scene attendance, investigations, strategizing crime prevention methods and any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Security Officer or his Deputy from time to time. He is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree with the University of Zimbabwe.

Mr Shorayi Takawira
Mr Takawira holds a Master of Science [Strategic Management] degree from Chinhoyi University of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts [English and Communication] Studies degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Diploma in Security Management, a Certificate in Public Prosecution and a Certificate in Training Methods.

Shorayi Takawira joined the University of Zimbabwe on 12th January 2015 as a Security Officer. Before joining the University, he had served in Zimbabwe Republic Police’s Criminal Investigation Department. He performed the duties of Criminal Investigations and Training of junior police personnel through lectures at the Police Staff College. He had been recruited into the police as a Constable on 19th November 1992. He rose through the ranks to that of Detective Chief Inspector before his retirement to join the University of Zimbabwe. He was the Officer In-Charge Criminal Investigation Department Drugs and Narcotics Harare. He therefore has a rich background in Criminal Investigations.

Mr Takawira holds a Master of Science [Strategic Management] degree from Chinhoyi University of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts [English and Communication] Studies degree from the University of Zimbabwe, a Diploma in Security Management, a Certificate in Public Prosecution and a Certificate in Training Methods. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Laws with the University of South Africa (UNISA) and an Executive Certificate in Occupational Health and safety with the University of Zimbabwe.

Jacqueline Kadebu
Executive Secretarial Diploma, Higher National Diploma in Office Management

Ms Jacqueline Kadebu joined the Security Department as a secretary in 2007.  Prior to joining the university Ms Kadebu had worked at the Central Statistical Office as a Data Capture Clerk.  She also worked as a secretary to the Chief Engineer at Agricultural Engineering under the then Department of Agritex in the Ministry of Lands and as receptionist at Clean Me Clean. Her current duties involve maintaining security management diaries, organizing departmental meetings, typing correspondence and maintaining records.  She holds an Executive Secretarial Diploma, Higher National Diploma in Office Management and certificates in computer appreciation. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Sociology and Gender Development Studies from the Women’s University in Africa.

Stephen Chimhunga
Diploma in Security and Risk Management

Security Officer Chimhunga joined the University of Zimbabwe in 1999 as a security guard. Previously he had worked for Squad Security Services as a Controller for five years. Mr. Chimhunga was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the University Security Department in 2005 and then to the position of Security Officer in 2008. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Chimhunga is in charge of all security operations at the University Farm. He is responsible for supervising sergeants and farm security guards, investigations, security surveys and implementation of security systems and liason with the Zimbabwe Republic Police. He has 6 “O” levels and holds a Diploma in Security and Risk Management as well as certificates in Basic Security Training, Information Technology and Records and Information Management.
