Dr Idah Nyawata

Phd, PGDip, BSc

 

Dr Idah Nyawata joined the Health Professions Education Department as a Senior Lecturer on the 1st of February 2019. She is a dynamic and motivated academic with over 15 years’ experience teaching and conducting research in tertiary institutions and healthcare organisations in the United Kingdom. She is excited to join the HPE Department because her passions lie in investigating and developing practices that improve the teaching experience for professionals and enhances the learning of students.

Dr Shalote Chipamaunga is a specialist in Health Professions Education currently setting up the Post Graduate Diploma, MSc and DPhil in Health Professions Education. She is also coordinating the MBChB undergraduate curriculum review and is co-Principal investigator on the College of Health Science’s Inter-professional Education and quality improvement grant entitled PETRA.

Dr Idah Nyawata is a dynamic, resourceful health sciences educator with an unwavering commitment to high quality teaching that makes a positive and lasting impact on learners and generating scholarship that is contextually relevant. She has several years’ experience working in health science education and her research interests cover a wide range of topics related to learning and teaching in the health sciences particularly in the growing field of student support. She currently co-ordinates the Health Education and Leadership programme for Zimbabwe (HEALZ) and the Student Support Services office.

Responsible for student registration and monitoring of progress unit graduation.  Handling of all administrative human resources issues and secretary to the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee as well as the Safety, Health and Wellness Committee.

Chief Secretary

Mrs Grace Maumbe

Qualifications: Diploma in Office Management and Administration, the British College of Professional Management, 2002. Executive Personal Assistant Certificate, Speciss College, Harare, Zimbabwe, 1988.

She assists Faculty Administrator in the Admissions process of Postgraduate and Diploma programmes (advertising, processing of forms and distribution, selection board meetings), assist in workshops, Annual Medical Research Day and other administrative activities and day to day running of the office, attending to students, telephone calls and emails.

She manages and co-ordinates the following departmental activities:  Faculty Development Workshops, Health Advanced Leadership Programme in Zimbabwe (HEALZ), HPE Conference, Primary Trauma Care course, and the Department Board and other meetings.
