Masters students will analyse the concept curriculum and the process and procedures in curriculum development and implementation. In the process, students will be assisted to realise and appreciate the need to come up with curriculum relevant to commerce and industry for sustainable national economic development. |
| EDU505 | Philosophy of Science |
Conceptualisation of sciences and the development of scientific thinking among young learners is important in successfully driving the economy of any nation today and for the achievement of national development goals. The course content focuses on curricula and pedagogies that are true to the nature of sciences, consistent with desired educational aims and align with developmentally appropriate practices in the education of young learners. Emphasis will be placed on a frame work for the natural sciences which includes principles of inquiry, problem- solving activities and teaching practices that link sciences to society and the physical environment. |

It helps students consider viable/ effective strategies such as collaboration to employ research in teaching programmes |

Music Technology |
This module exposes students to a variety of music hardware and software for purposes of composition, sound engineering, performance, marketing and distribution, promotion, branding and designing and teaching and learning. Some examples include MIDI, beat machines, Finale and Sibelius. |
| MEMP521 |
Music Theory |
This module is for the development of students’ advanced knowledge and appreciation of music theory, harmony and counterpoint for the composition of art and contemporary music styles. Both manual and software applications will be used to expose and explore working rules of the elements of music within stylistic contexts. Students are expected to listen to and discuss music excerpts from different epochs taking note of stylistic changes and innovation. They will compose music in preferred styles. |

Instrument Manufacture and or Repair |
The module gives students hands on experience in manufacturing and repairing African and Western instruments. Focus will be on Zimbabwean traditional instruments. Precision and attention to acoustical properties of materials will be studied through practical craftsmanship. Creation of employment is envisaged through this module. Ability to impart knowledge and skills in manufacturing and repairing of the instruments will be developed. |

Music Entrepreneurship |
The module will prepare students for engagement in modern music industry. It includes areas such as music production, marketing, promotion, distribution, branding and music rights. As entrepreneurs, they will be able to develop problem-solving skills to generate employment as label and artist managers, ensemble and solo management, solo artists, promoters, advertisers, marketers or consultants. The students will be exposed to the educational value of entrepreneurship. |

Music Performance |
The module assists students develop exceptional performance skills in a variety of instruments including voice, solo, ensemble and recital. Performances in art music, choral, contemporary and traditional will be presented. Knowledge and skills in the teaching and learning of music performance in different contexts will be explored. |
