Dr Raymond Taruvinga  

Qualifications: 2022 PhD Social work (University of Pretoria 2016), Master of social science in social work (University of KwaZulu-Natal 2014), Bachelor of social work honours degree (University of Zimbabwe)

Bio: Dr Taruvinga is a social worker with 5 years teaching experience at the University of Zimbabwe and University of KwaZulu Natal. He started his career with an interest in child rights before delving into migrant and refugee rights. Dr Taruvinga is engaged in community development initiatives at both practice and research levels. Locally he is associa6tes with faith-based philanthropic and youth guidance activities as well as access to justice initiatives in Epworth Harare. Internationally, he recently engaged in community resilience and post conflict recovery research with the Global Resilience Partnership. At post graduate level he teaches development related modules and at undergraduate level he has taught a variety of modules across all four levels but he has concentrated on Foundations of Gerontology in the past year. Dr Taruvinga also coordinates the department’s quality assurance committee.

Research Interests: social investments, migrant rights, refugee camp politics, social development.
