The University of Zimbabwe marked a historic milestone on August 14, 2026, hosting its 45th Graduation Ceremony with the largest cohort in its history. A total of 7,132 graduates were capped by Chancellor President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa under the theme “Critical Human Capital for Zimbabwe’s Industrialisation and Competitiveness.”
The ceremony highlighted the University of Zimbabwe’s devotion to inclusivity and excellence, with 53% female graduates, 321 First Class and Distinction achievers, and 34 graduates living with disabilities. Notably, 25 Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) and 6 Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degrees were conferred.
Special recognition went to six students who received the Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Awards for outstanding academic performance. Among them were Arthur Mapato and Blessing Kugwa, named best overall undergraduate male and female students, respectively.
This landmark graduation shows the university's role in advancing Vision 2030 andproducing skilled professionals to drive Zimbabwe’s industrialisation, innovation, and competitiveness.
