Eng. Z Hoko

Qualifications: MSc (Sanitary Engineering) - IHE – Delft NL, BSc (Eng) Hons Civil - University of Zimbabwe

Eng. Z. Hoko holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Zimbabwe and an MSc in Sanitary Engineering from IHE-Delft, the Netherlands.  He is a member of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers and is registered with the Engineering council of Zimbabwe. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Construction and Civil Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe and has been Postgraduate Programmes Coordinator, Head of Department and Deputy Dean of Faculty. Before joining the University of Zimbabwe, he worked as a Water and Wastewater Engineer for the City of Harare and left having attained the position of Senior Engineer. He has worked in most of the Southern African and some East African countries as a water and sanitation consultant including for the World Bank, UNICEF and some international NGOs.  He has been a visiting lecturer at some universities in Southern and East Africa.  His professional, teaching and research areas are in planning, design, implementation, project management and, operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation infrastructure and applied water quality management. He has set on a number of scientific and professional committees and task forces.  He has published over 45 book chapters and journal articles and edited one book and three journals and authored or co-authored over 60 conference papers that have been presented at international conferences/symposia.  He has supervised over 80 MSc students and over 200 BSc students over the years.
